He was trying to shoot through earth, which was a mistake. Like I mention in the notes, we had nothing to do with the testing and recommend once he shared this that he restore the manual down tilt so it only has the 4 degree electronic DT. Ground absorption is worse for us than leaves, which have been shown to actually improve some links compared to no leaves. We believe what's happening then is just the signal bouncing/reflecting across the tree tops, even in some cases reliably reflecting down into hole. This is clearly what's happening with the "sheep hole" shot on You Tube because it sure ain't going through earth. Same situation that an Iowa WISP reports and Jim Patient has verified -- there's a link TowerCoverage says should not be connecting at all on the other side of a hill, but the WISP has maintained a stable 20+Mbps. We'll never make claims it can do those things, but when I have evidence of those cases I report them if I've good, reliable information. That's the fun stuff, though you can't build a business model on those anomalies.

In the interest of trying to stay completely transparent, here is some data. The customer sent it yesterday in the context of seeking further technical recommendation. As I've said many times, the object of any successful testing protocol is not so much to find what something can do, but rather what it can't -- if you do not know the limits of your gear, you know nothing. So here is some meaty material. All I've done is add some notes to the beginning for context, and deleted customer and exact location identifying information before converting it into a pdf for your consumption. Kimono wide open,. as some of these shots report as no go's. Enjoy, and let me know if you like this sort of data.
