Most of our customers have our routers and the ones that don’t get NAT on the
outdoor radio.

Oh the Airrouter. Are you not scared that customers will plug in their device
backwards? Or are you doing a firewall on every Ubnt SM to block responses?

If I move it to the LAN port, I have to NAT the outdoor radio. Then I can’t

AirControl can't manage it???

Pick up the router. See the cables? Yes, move that one over from WAN to 1.
That should be pretty easy.

But ya, I can see not wanting to do different stuff for 1 customer here or
there.

The problem is then AirControl can’t manage it and the customer is going to
take an hour to walk him through moving the cables. Easier just to drive there
plus we have some other stuff to do down there.

If it's a Ubnt device plugged into it, NAT the SM and have the customer move
the cable over to lan1. Then turn off DHCP on the Airrouter.

And as this thread starts, another AirRouter bites the dust 60 miles from my
closest tech. We can tell because the outdoor radio reports the port at 10Mbps.

We started with the AirGateway but the range wasn’t there. We use the LR’s
now. In some cases, we put a bigger antenna on them that gives another 2dB but
depending on where we have to install, we sometimes run 2 of them or start with
AirRouter-HPs and bigger antennas. When we do that the customer has to live
with WPA security.

Are you using regular AG or the AG-LR? Even though the AG/AR have the exact
same antenna, I'm concerned about it's placement destroying its coverage in
homes.

I like the AG-LR's mounting bracket almost as much as the external antenna.

So far the AirGateways seem to be doing better than the AirRouters but they are
newer. We stopped using AirRouters and went to AirGateways for that reason.

I never deployed many, but I have seen most of them need to have the firmware
TFTPed back on. THey're doing better, though than the airGateways. I deployed
one and within a week that one failed. *shrugs*

Has anyone else seen a high failure rate for Ubnt AirRouters they bought in the
last 12 months? Been having to replace a lot of them and putting in Mikrotik
RB-951's
