Do any of the Mikrotik consultants have a recommended template for tweaking
the parameters on a Mikrotik router for SoHo use? Doesn't have to be free
if it's track tested and good.
Not looking for firewall or QoS rules, I know those are out there. More
interested in the WiFi parameters and maybe stuff like DHCP and DNS
parameters.
Silly me, I assume the Mikrotik defaults should be good, and maybe that's
true. Normally the only thing I change is I bump up the DHCP lease time
from 10m to 1d if it's not a public hotspot. I have heard some people
suggest things like disable 802.11b and set a minimum signal to connect.
I'm struggling a bit with homes that have a boatload of portable devices,
which are constantly going to sleep to save batteries, or moving to places
with poor signal, or leaving in the car and coming back. iPhones/iPads seem
more troublesome than Androids and laptops.
