They are going to need to get into the PTP800. Getting the fiber port to carry traffic requires a configuration change in the radio - you have to tell it what port you want it to use for data.
The PTP800’s also have “Rapid Link Shutdown”, though Cambium calls it something else. If configured the unit will intentionally flap the Ethernet when the wireless link goes down as a immediate signal to the switch/router that the link is down instead of waiting for OSPF/STP timers to expire. Cable issues between the IDU/ODU can also cause short link drops that will trigger RLS and flap the Ethernet.
