What does Comcast do for their VoIP that is part of their triple play?

I'm sure they're collecting USF funds for theirs.

That should be an easy argument to make....

All of the States recognize VOIP to be same as POTS lines for purpose of communication taxes..
So does the FCC when it comes to reporting and taxes..
So why is CAF Funding carving out an exclusion...

Most of the States and other dept take the test of reasonable approach... if it walks like a duck, quack's like a duck then it is a duck, so what it is pink in color !

    Thanks,
A doctor or pharmacy will throw you out the door if they are only
getting 98% of their faxes through.
The issue I am arguing will have to do with whether or not
SIP/VOIP via ATA is equivalent to PSTN POTS and therefore should
be eligible for USF support in the rural areas. This has to do
with making the CAF funding portable to WISPS. I think that all

        Oh, yeah, Elevator Alarms too...

You mean Elevator Help call Lines.... (these are nothing more than
auto dialers).. They work fine with VOIP ATA, they don't care what
type of phone line you have.

I am compiling a list of sip/voip issues I have run into over
the years. I am going to get beaten up by some bureaucrats
tomorrow morning and I want to have a list to defuse them
before the oral part of the proceedings start.
I am going to say that ATA/SIP/VOIP is not suitable for the
        following:

Fax Machines (don’t even get me started on this, tried to do a
        doctor’s office and pharmacy once....)

Now Approaching 95% to 98% full functionality....Bulk of the
issues tend to be with remote fax machines have error correction
    turned on....

TDD The teminal that deaf people use. Does anyone know if a
TDD will work on a garden variety ATA? I don’t have one I can
        test with.

    http://www.alldeaf.com/showthread.php?t=34404

        Dial up modems....

Yes and no.... it is a bit backwards to talk about modems on a
voip line.. but the issue is not the modem not working, but more
of the modem not working at a high transmission rate over the voip
    line.

Fire Alarm control panels (the monitoring companies refuse to
even hook it up if you tell them it is VOIP).

This is a regulatory issue (Liability related) and not a technical
    one per say.

        Burglar Alarms .... ditto

Not really a technical issue.. but a regulatory and liability related.

I wonder about heart monitors that you wear and have the
        results phoned in.

    Have not seen these...

Dial phones. I have never tried to use a pulse dial phone on
an ATA/SIP unit. I wonder if it would work.
        Any others?

Ok you got me... BTW if you find someone with the Old original
Graham phone, please let me know I would be interested in buying one..
About the only viable argument one can make is that VOIP is less
reliable than a POTS phone line......(within a very specific
context, e.g. similar to cell phones not being as reliable as pots
    lines...)
