Force plates worked well and we might even still have a few around.

is what we have been using recently for customers that have an issue with a 
foot directly on the shingles or when the dish needs to sit at a 90 angle to 
the foot.   When the reflector is side loading the foot of the mount the torque 
will bend the mount even if the bolts manage to hold.

For the most part I prefer a eave mount like this:

Works great.  Lets you mount on the fascia - the customer is happier, it’s more 
secure, and the roofer is much less likely to screw it up.
