Airmax announcement was 2009, YouTube HTML5 was 2010. I guess it depends on how 
long it was on the boat. ;-)

We are working to get rid of Java as quickly as we can. At the time airView was 
written (before my time here), it was really the only practical choice for 
cross-browser integration.

The latest Chrome disables some SSL ciphers and NPAPI, which is required to use 
Java.
