That's just pure hocum.
On the SF peninsula, our longest AF24 (not HD) link is ~~ 2.25 miles
(3.6 km). We get RSI of ~~ -59, and we do get full modulation of 64QAM
at that distance; so it gets the full ~~ 770 Mbps. However, it does fade
in the rains we get here, which is similar to what you might get just a
couple hundred miles from us. The worst fade we've seen on this link is
down to maybe 700 Mbps (that's over the air rate, full dux).
That link "might" be tweaked up just a little bit, but not much. I
can't imagine that the HD would go all that much further unless you were
transmitting through a vacuum.

AF24 works here well up to 3 miles. We have one at 4.3 miles, which
to date has worked well but as we have had no rain to speak of for
years it’s hard to know what it will do in the rain.
Anyone a feel for the % better a 24HD is over 24?
