Agreed.  We use 3 miles as our max for AF24.  Although we have one at 4.3 miles 
which works well for now.  It does have a 5.7 parallel backup.

13 km is really, highly terribly optimistic for a regular AF24 in, for example 
ITU rain zone D (Seattle).  More like 5km if you want five nines at its proper 
modulation rate.
