Haven't had those. Last year I bought a pair of Carolina Logger Boots. Leather, composite toe, composite shank, oil resistant tread, 8", thinsulated, no raised heel, waterproof, shock resistant to some insane level. I bought them for climbing towers in the middle of winter when I was in Alaska. Let me tell you, mission accomplished. I love these boots.
They're holding up very well. I expect about ten years out of them with the way they look now... Maybe longer. Carolina has hundreds of different feature combinations, in a few colors. They can be spendy and hard to find who has the exact model, but their corporate hq was very helpful to me when I was trying to find the right model.
