(no spoilers I promise… as much as I want to talk about them!)

…And my 8 year old son was jumping up and down the entire time… couldn’t have
been more excited. And he has only seen a New Hope. My 7 year old I think was
going to cry at one point in the movie. My 11 and 14 year olds were kinda
stoic… but when the lights came up you could tell they had a lot of fun. When
we got home late last night they all picked up plastic lightsabers and started
playing (which the limited use of lightsabers makes them special again). They
are hooked… the power of good storytelling without preconceptions.

Yes the story was familiar. I agree the pacing early on was a bit odd. I
think Starkiller was lazy storytelling. But everything great about the movie
was new. The things that drove me crazy about the first 3 movies like the
Force being talked about as science… midichlorians instead of a living “thing”…
no practical effects… etc. etc. where noticeably absent.

The trailer for the next Star Trek looks even worse on the movie screen than it
did on YouTube. “From the Director of Fast and The Furious” should not be
mixed with Star Trek. It looks like an action movie… *sigh*

Anyways, I’ll be going back again in the next few days to see it again. As my
wife said when it ended… “can we rewind it and watch it again?”. Call me a fan
boy… but I felt like I did when I saw a New Hope for the first time as a little
kid. Star Wars is back.

Thank you,

Star Wars

OK, I was there at the beginning, watching it with my girlfriend and her
family. So old and jaded for certain.

If you saw that original one one, you also saw this new one. Just retooled.
Same thematic elements, story arc, crisis etc etc.

Some of the scenes could have been shared. Just no garbage compactor, but
there is reference to it.

Sorry but it sure as hell is not worth standing in line to see.

I got free tickets, and it was barely worth the price of admission.
