I hate to disappoint you Americans but Tim Hortons is terrible. The only thing it has going for it is its huge number of locations. The coffee is worse than McDonalds (yes, really, since McD in Canada buys from a roaster that used to supply Starbucks).
About 10-15 years ago Tim Hortons sold itself to some corporate buyout group to proceeded to stop the practice of baking fresh donuts, muffins etc in each location. Instead they now receive cardboad boxes full of sad, small, crusty, stale frozen donuts that go in an industrial microwave oven every morning. All this in the name of profit, and because normal people still want to pay $1 a donut, not the $2 it would probably cost if they really baked them in house.
