Hehe.. yeah, a lot of Canadians take long weekends into Maine, Vermont etc …
nice countryside there…

I don’t drink coffee personally but most folks I talk to love their coffee –
perhaps that’s not saying much, or it’s something that folks got used to ;)

My daughter lives in Maine which sometimes seems like part of Canada, and they
have Tim Hortons there. And yes, she says they are terrible, including the
coffee.

Actually there’s some Timmie’s in the US too ;) Not many and nothing like some
Canadian cities where there is a Tim Hortons every 10 square miles kind of
thing …

Hmm... this sure doesn't match my experience with "Timmies". But again, I'm
not a coffee drinker, and I have a slight addiction to timbits. Thankfully
they're only available north of the border.

I hate to disappoint you Americans but Tim Hortons is terrible. The only thing
it has going for it is its huge number of locations. The coffee is worse than
McDonalds (yes, really, since McD in Canada buys from a roaster that used to
supply Starbucks).

About 10-15 years ago Tim Hortons sold itself to some corporate buyout group to
proceeded to stop the practice of baking fresh donuts, muffins etc in each
location. Instead they now receive cardboad boxes full of sad, small, crusty,
stale frozen donuts that go in an industrial microwave oven every morning. All
this in the name of profit, and because normal people still want to pay $1 a
donut, not the $2 it would probably cost if they really baked them in house.
