Arizona has a lot more rain than Idaho… even parts of Washington. I believe the rain rate for Phoenix is higher than most of Colorado too. Phoenix is similar to San Francisco for instance.
In fact – it’s easier to design a link in Portland than Phoenix (rain rates are about how hard it rains, not how often it rains). /soapbox I’m going to say one thing about this thread – DISH SIZE DOES NOT MATTER. Just cause it works for Rory does not mean it will work for you. I can’t stress this enough. Each path has to be engineered separately. This is not 5GHz – rain does affect 11GHz. Expectations on what constitutes a good link vs. a band link vary widely between providers. 18GHz, 23GHz, and 24GHz are even more important. It’s not apples to apples. Any 11GHz radio, with proper engineering, can easily go 70+ miles.
