Well, FICA and Medicare add 7.65%.  And Illinois unemployment insurance can be 
up to something like 7% depending on the company’s history.  Then there’s 
workmans comp insurance.

Plus benefits.

Plus overhead like a desk to work at or a vehicle to drive, utilities, 
insurance, cost of doing HR and payroll.

So yeah, that $12/hr guy could cost $40K to $50K per year, depending on 
benefits.

If you have a 12 dollar an hour guy, what's the overall cost of that employee 
in real dollars on average annually? I assume it varies by state, and 
incidental benefits. But straight wage and average secondary costs with no 
benefits. Is there an employer calculator out there for this sort of thing?
