I would buy another battery but apparently it is built into the phone

That sounds abnormal. It should not be dying at 44%, so either the phone is
reading it incorrectly of maybe the battery is defective?

I've never had a cell phone do that, even going back to the big brick cellphone
days with extendable antennas.

i have fleeting memories of my cellphone battery.....i have
an htc one remix.  i've had it maybe a year.  of course it gets
drained every day.  now it just dies when the battery is at 44%.  i
know it will - but thats not right.  it didn't used to do it.

how bad would it suck if your car battery just died at
44%....

But you don’t.  That is the point.  I have a charger at home
and at work and at my other work.  3-5 seconds.  None if  you
have a passenger do it for you...

You
still have most of those hassles with electric. You still have them all if
you're not at a free charging location.

Time it.  You will be surprised.  5 minutes.  Gotta drive
in, park, get out, gas cap off, swipe card, wait for authentication, select
fuel, wait for beep, put hose in, pull trigger.  Wait a couple  of
minutes, reverse all of the above, stand in rain, snow gas fumes, noise.

From the moment you leave the street to being back on the street 5
minutes.

And it costs you money!

I charge with solar.

We drive past gas stations every day.  It's what, 2
minutes?
If you travel >200 miles your time table is screwed as you need
to charge.  Your route also can't be the scenic one.
It costs more than my current car which I have today and I doubt it
comes close in terms of comfort.
Oh and the auto pilot doesn't try to hit oncoming traffic.
That's a nice upside!

If your daily trips are fairly short, you would only have to plug in
once a week.

There is nothing but upside here.

Even if it were 5 seconds that would be more time every two weeks
than what I spend at a gas station.  Then I have to pay for power
anyway...
Not a fan of the front end duck bill.  The rear has too much
Prius.  Side looks great.  Interior looked unfinished or space
aged.
115k preorders for something you won't see in two years,
though?  Woof.

No interest really.  Plugging in every time I get
home?  Yuck.  I love the updates they do with the Model S and
the API power is really awesome, but I'm more for NA over boost, let alone
electric.
I saw the website and thought "Who's going to preorder a car
that won't be announced for another hour?". IPhone users :P
