And what does that have to do with voter disenfranchisement? If the argument is that the poor are affected by this, then there should be twice as many white people complaining about it as black people. If the idea is that we can somehow "keep blacks from voting" by making it economically hard to do so, then you would affect twice as many whites as blacks. That would be counterproductive from a racial standpoint if race was the motivation. These cases and stories are cherry picked for maximum racial drama. When you dig into it, I'd bet there are very few people who couldn't legitimately obtain the necessary id. Election dates don't move and typically these laws are enacted over a time period so nobody is taken by surprise. If you just moved or are college student from another town, it is your responsibility to make sure you are eligible to vote in your new residence if it is that important to you. Again, it is no surprise that you can't vote outside of where you told the government you reside.
