is cnmaestro another platform toy theyll get bored with right after we
vest in it as has historically been the case with cambium/motorola or
am i just still holding a baseless grudge over prizm?

Calix has a manged router platform called consumer connect. 844E

Cambium is also rolling a managed router platform with cnmaestro.
I honestly don't know enough about the routers.

We started doing it on our fiber network with 844E and
we have over a 90% take rate at $7. The only mistake
I made was starting at $7 :) Calix can be a bit of a
pain to buy from. And maybe if you are just wanting to
buy routers even more of a pain, I am not sure. But
once you are setup with them, they are awesome. Gino
I saw again that you are still waiting, did they ever
call you? My sales rep keeps telling me he is hitting
up your sales rep? Maybe yours spends to much time on
the beach drinking mai tai’s Ill send another email
out for you…

I'm going to assume it involves sacrificing a goat
during the full moon over a pentagram while chanting
"ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn",
because after signing an NDA and describing what I'm
looking for pricing on, I didn't get much useful info
back...

"managed wifi" means they can call us at anytime

we receive exactly zero calls per month from our

what does managed wifi consist of?
We opted not to do anything with the free
wireless we give out beyond shutting it off
if they have problems. Too many customers who
want the equipment installed in their
basement and coverage to their detached
garage, inside their refrigerator, up in the
attic, through 7 walls and a TV.... no thank you

we charge a $99 "setup fee" for our

the router remains our property and we
replace it if need be.
At that price i expected the take rate to
be lower than what it is (we priced it
high so that we could run specials ;-)
but we've been very pleased with the take
rate.

All this looking cnPilot and
GigaCenter has me thinking about
pricing models for managed customer
routers...
What pricing models are others using
for the R200/R201/844E managed home
routers? Do you sell the customer the
router, lease it, just give it,
charge for management, sell it
without management, etc?
[During a promotional time, I have
been using the R200 and sell it to
new customers for $50 (at a loss to
help adoption). Then, I don't charge
for remote management. I've been
pretty pleased, but I'm debating
whether to sell the router (since it
requires convincing the customer) or
just including it. Also, I want to
start charging for management, but
I'm not sure what a reasonable rate
is. I recognize it will vary by area,
but I'm looking for some ballpark
numbers.]
Thank you,
Chris
