The previous owner of our house had run direct-burial aluminum wire from
our pump shed to the well head (~~ 600'). When we did some re-wiring
several years ago (hmmm 18 years now), we cut in a new circuit panel,
and ran copper from the panel to a Christy box about 10-15 feet from the
shed. The electrician knew all about the aluminum versus copper issue,
and said we'd be fine if we put no-ox on the junctions and wrap them up.
I guess he was right. It's been 18 years now, and it seems to be fine.

Back in the 60s, mobile homes, modular homes and some stick built
homes were wired up with aluminum romex. The aluminum would oxidize
at screw terminals on receptacles, get hot and catch fire. So, in a
typical overreaction it was banned. Homes were fixed by using a crimp
sleeve to put copper tails on all the aluminum in the walls.
Appraisers and insurance companies were and probably still are on the
lookout for aluminum romex.
But if the aluminum is terminated to something that is designed for
aluminum wires you will be fine.

The aluminum will oxidize. It's recommended to use No-ox to prevent it.

bar is aluminum, and the connections between the bus bars are the #6
