Would be kinda fun to see what my speeds are when skiing.

My wife got me a Samsung Gear 2 Special/Advanced or something like that.

I like it a lot, looks like a nice wristwatch, not a sports watch.

Gives me updates on everything while my phone sits somewhere else.

And also tracks all my steps/runs etc.

It also now comes in a GPS/3g version that doesn’t need the phone anymore for a
lot of stuff.

I have a Samsung Note 5 so it pairs well and plays well together.

iPhone 4… I still have a couple of those for the occasional Apple app I need to
load from time to time, lol!

Yeah, there's a few coming out now. The Garmin vivomove is pretty decent
looking (http://explore.garmin.com/en-US/vivo-fitness/)

Only problem I have with them is I actually like automatic watches, so I don't
really want a 'fake watch'. I just use one of the very thin fitbit bands and I
wear it on my right arm if I'm going to wear a watch. I think, if you want to
wear a watch, and you don't really care what it is, it makes sense to go with
one of them. I think pretty much all the Android watches/Apple watch all do
step tracking too.

I think it was less $$ and probably has a manly version.

One thing to note is that if all you really care about is step tracking, you
don't even need the app, unless you buy the cheapest FitBit that doesn't have a
screen. Most of them have a screen that shows you your step count. You really
only need the app if you want to do any kind of stuff with the data (like
calculate calorie burn, sync to another app, share with your friends, etc.)

I believe so, but I haven't tried it. You'd need the app to do anything
with it though, although it looks like there is one in the Windows app store at
least.

Nah, it works with Android (I have one.) Sends data to the phone via
Bluetooth, phone uploads it to the Fitbit website if you want to sync it to
other stuff (e.g. I sync mine to MyFitnessPal.)

They just charge via USB, little proprietary cable that connects to the
back.
