[AFMUG] 450i + PacketFlux Rev i0 sync

So I've got a 450i AP running 14.1.2 and one of the new SyncBox 
Junior's. I wired a patch cable like Matt posted here:

I get sync on the timing port, but no data. I know that rj12 pin 3 is 
the GPS Tx data on the boxes and pipes. And it says rj45 pin 5 is the 
GPS Rx data. So it appears to be the correct wiring. The cable tests fine.

I'm wondering if the AP can't see the Motorola binary GPS data and wants 
NMEA instead, like from a UGPS? If not that, then I'm lost. Or do I need 
it on 14.2.x? I really don't want to go there yet.
