i think there is a guy at microsoft just solely dedicated to coming up with
newer and better ways for them to be dicks. He was on an extended vacation
after he got his massive bonus check for the licensing audit program. Then he
came up with windows 10 licensing where its either hardware bound in the ether,
or tied to your personal microsoft account, assuming you were the first guy to
log in post upgrade, or maybe your reseller account, or hey, maybe its your
COA, or its an OEM that may be bound to a COA key, or hardware bound.
that guy is fa freaking champ

Apparently starting a few months back, Microsoft in their infinite wisdom
decided to cover part of the Product Key on their COA stickers with a silver
label and the word Microsoft. Turns out you scratch it off like a lottery
ticket, but they neglect to tell you this. So I ended up calling tech support
to see if I was supposed to peel off the silver label and the guy had no idea
what I was talking about. As soon as I tried to peel a corner with my
fingernail, I realized it was scratch-off not a label.

Only an issue if you get box software with a COA sticker, I assume not an
issue with volume licensing.
