In 2017, ensure that whatever you're doing speaks dual band 802.11ac wave2 over the air (not just regular 802.11ac)... There will be an increasing number of devices coming out that understand 1024QAM 802.11ac at short distances and high SNR, such as when using the 5.x GHz band radio within the same room.
