I’m way late to this thread… but ConVergence does have the CMM5 controllers and 56VDC injectors in stock.
The 29VDC injectors are still a bit of a ways out. But you need replicable/expendable robust external surge suppressors as the first line of defense. If the surge suppressor is designed properly it will not degrade performance. Maybe WikiLeaks can get us a spec sheet. David, can you post a photo of your setup? It looks like around $1000 street price for 4 ports, plus a separate controller, plus a UGPS? Wowzers. Compare to CTM2 from LMG which is 8 ports with integral controller. Can you get 2 of the 4-port modules, or 1 module and a controller, in 1U rackmount? Are you using the controller? Does it exist yet? You mention surge protection, does that mean it has integral surge protection like the CTM2? Downside would be frying a whole $1000 unit if it takes a hit. If you still use a separate surge protector, like maybe Chuck’s APC shelf modules, does the double surge protector degrade Ethernet performance? The compatibility chart show it can work with 56V APs like 450i/450m, as well as 29V APs like 450. I’m assuming it’s whatever power supply you connect to the module? As opposed to generating the appropriate voltages internally from the 48V input? Takes all the guess work out of gps timing and surge protection at the base or control point. Also, its a long term solution for those needing high capacity within highly dense areas. Just got our first one in yesterday and love the new modular design and stackable ports for up to 32 controlled ports from one controller.
