We run EPMP primarily because of fairly low density, under 40 subs, some under 10 allowing for the Lite keys even. We are testing out a 25x5 plan on a sector that has 15 subs I think 450m would be worth going to if we had higher densities, but the minimal aggregate capacity gain and limited channels in 450 dont justify the cost
If sub count is low and projected to stay low, a slow forklift to EPMP isnt a bad idea except the cold, EPMP has always has different cold related issues, but if you give it enough juice it isnt a huge issue, sub zero with wind is enough that a restart will cool enough that if has to heat, so there is a delay in restoration of service. Cambium shot themselves in the foot and continues to do so with EPMP, they release a rock solid product, IMO the absolute best in the wifi market, and they keep improving it to the detriment of their flagship 450. And they punched UBNT in the eye with the last release, anytime UBNT gets a black eye is a good day On Mon, Jan 30, 2017 at 4:40 PM, George Skorup <[email protected]> wrote: > 450 is what I'd do. > > But... > > ePMP 2000 vs 1000 at the AP is what you should do because of the Tx/Rx > filter. ePMP syncs with FSK, but for whatever reason, it's not precise > enough yet (ever?) to play nice with the 430/450. > > On 1/30/2017 1:46 PM, Vlad Sedov wrote: > > We've not seen any performance improvement switching a 430 cluster to 450 > APs, until all (or most) 430 SMs got swapped out with 450 SMs.. > > As for EPMP, it still does better than other wifi-esque gear, and channel > reuse works well..
