I think they changed something. Windows 10 updates used to cripple my home connection, but lately I haven't noticed them.

I have recently had an incident where some Windows system process is downloading something from a Microsoft IP address and that download crippled me. Settings -> Updates & Security didn't indicate any update was downloading. I think I eventually determined it to be the Windows Defender that was doing the downloading, but I don't remember how I concluded that.

So it seems like when a customer wants to update a windows 10 machine, it will gladly and readily take all available bandwidth (and more). I'm updating 2 brand new windows 10 machines in the NOC, plugged into gigabit Ethernet, and they're downloading the windows updates at <2mb/s. I would have expected them to just fly.
