never been on a tower with lightning closer than a mile or so, but, 
realistically, given the slim chance that your tower that you happen to be on 
and the massive chance of serious risk or injury from riding a guy (or wire) 
down a tower, Id think just climbing down is your safest bet.

On that note, if you were on a well grounded tower that was struck, aside from 
the lightning hitting you direct, would it hurt you, like those helicopter guys 
who bond to transmission lines
