African Cinema Conference presents...
From:      [EMAIL PROTECTED] (CCH Grants)
To:      [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Thank you for your interest in California Council for the Humanities'

new statewide initiative :  California Stories.

Do you have a California story to share that will enlarge our

understanding of California, its people and the issues we face? We
hope

so, because CCH is pleased to announce two upcoming grant
opportunities

-- the California Story Fund and the California Documentary Project.

The California Story Fund is offering grants of up to $5,000 for
public

humanities projects that encourage California communities to tell
their

stories and then bring communities together to discuss the collected

stories' meaning and significance. California Story Fund formats can

include photography and interpretive exhibits, radio or video

documentaries, digital media, dramatic presentations and interpretive

artwork. To obtain guidelines, visit

http://www.californiastories.org/guidelines/guidelines_ca_story.htm

The next deadline is September 1, 2003.

The California Documentary Project is the media grants component of

California Stories. It is designed to encourage film, video, radio
and

photography documentarians to record and reveal contemporary
California

life much the same way that artists such as Dorothea Lange and John

Steinbeck documented the Dust Bowl area. Grants of up to $20,000 are

available. To obtain guidelines, please visit <

<http://www.calhum.org/guidelines/guidelines_ca_doc.htm>

http://www.calhum.org/guidelines/guidelines_ca_doc.htm>. The next

deadline is October 1, 2003.

Our staff are available to answer any questions you may have. But,

please don't respond to this email -- contact information for staff
in

your area can be found in the guidelines.

Thank you again for your interest. We hope that you are able to join
us

on this exciting new initiative.
