Subject: African Language Presentation

Dear Linguists:

The Albuquerque Biopark recently opened a new exhibit with African animals, and
our Education curator suggested we think out of the box when developing
educational discovery stations. He suggested a discussion of African language
families (!!!! as if we have 20 years with zoo visitors !!!!!). Instead, I am
attempting to put together an explanation of the complexity of the clicking
sounds used in some African languages, and your site has been a great help.

Can anyone tell me where I can find recordings of African children's songs? At
this point, I'm not picky about language - as long as they are sub-Saharan
African, rather than European languages. I'd like to attempt to teach children
a simple song, and show them pictures of people (and then the animals) that
live where that song is sung.

Sincerely,
Lisa Pickens, Docent
Rio Grande Zoo
