And now we arrive at an example of why I'm uncomfortable with this issue. Derrick described when the rpcs would be made by the CM, but not what they do or are for. so now, we are all (well, some of us) trying to pile on features that make this concept useful for some potential enhancement.
What's wrong with specifying the problem you want to solve, verifying that it is a problem, and proposing a tailored solution?
