Weaker for optimization problems, but mine will provably stumble upon AGI if AGI is possible -- and if one can define AGI in a useful way, which might in fact be one of the big problems with AGI efforts so far :) On a more serious note, I tend to agree with something that Alan Kay says: that access to more powerful hardware changes what researchers can empirically test, and that this then also qualitatively changes the sort of things that they tend to think about. For example, deep learning is not a new idea, but it appeared decades before we had the computational power and gigantic datasets to see impressive results. These results lead to more people thinking about deep learning, after a long period of stagnation. It's a bit of a dead end in my opinion, but you get the point.
