What he failed to realize is that the matter and energy of Earth self-organizes on its own until it reaches a global optimal form (technological god) and reaches the final equilibrium state. Cells replicate and terraform Earth, but aren't great food finders yet. Nanobots will turn atoms into other types of atoms and spread like cancer. That 1% of cells he mentioned that are evolving exponentially faster are humans, and only like 5% of humans are working on science and making advances. That 1% is the number that shoots up to 100% very fast, when the nanobot replicators emerge. The optimal form of Earth is a god, and it can repair itself (self-organize) very fast and reach the global optimal form again if damaged. We already know that our scientific human's progress is advancing at an exponential rate. The repairing is getting faster near the end.
