Teleology is the crazy aunt in the attic no one wants to talk about, except the crazy aunt in the attic.
The problem with viewing the aunt as crazy is she's the only one in the house willing to posit that her life is authentic (in at least in Heidegger's sense of "authentic"). Given this, one is hard pressed to see how mitotic life's sacrifice of the will to power for meotic life's sexual love, thence to the Moral animal's search for authenticity can be fulfilled by regressing back to being a mere part of a mitotic life form. Global technological civilization seems to be much closer to a paperclip optimizing AI, turning humans into its Mechanical Turks, than an authentic Omega Point.
