This post suddenly got a bunch more difficult to write now that I know I'm writing for a mixed audience. =O?? This is really quite shocking beacuse the mere fact that I'm interested in a subject enough to join the mailing list is, generally speaking, an iron clad garantee that no woman would ever join. I had started to take this for granted... Anyway, in re-thinking how I'm going to approach this subject I think I came a much more fundamental angle to approach it. My initial plan for this post was to cover what little I know about launching a venture and raising capitol. In looking at other posts on this list, there is a much bigger problem that many of us are facing.
I'm in a pretty bad life situation (42 year old virgin...), the Youtuber Aydin Paladin has an excellent presentation on the subject. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoqOm_EVR_g Here's another good one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hZkbIacydk I must also give due respects to my other brothers who don't benefit from being as maniacal as I am, and have succumbed to drug addiction or suicide. I barely have any opportunity to have any conversation with any woman except the occasional recruiter who invariably says I'm too unemployed for the refined tastes of their clients.. Now I have one stalking the list I use as my brain dumping ground and what is essentially a cop parsing my every word. This is not the kind of stress I'm used to. =\ Anyway, the social phenomenon of which Comrade Sanders is a symptom has systematically, and methodically destroyed the economic stablity of American men, especially when they're white. The reason for this is that people who are male and economically stable have a natural tendancy to resist comminism. Because resistance of commisim is the one true sin, it must be punished by giving "blue collar" jobs only to people who illegally cross this nation's southern border, and white collar jobs, especally the highly sought after "STEM" jobs to people from Hyderabad India, either through outsourcing or through worker visas. So on this list you will find two groups of people, people who either started companies or secured employment back in the '90s and got good enough at their careers that they're reasonably comfortable, or people who didn't and from being eccentrics with long histories of unemployment are now considered unemployABLE to the overwhelming majority of employers, the social consequences of which are not the concern of said employers. Regardless of the initial motivation for joining this list, the long years have caused that motivation to evolve and converge to one word: hope. AI is the one thing in this world that offers the, apparently, true hope of salvation from a society that has utterly failed to provide the quality of life for which it was originaly constituted. Ok, lets consider what a happy outcome would be for me in a conventional world would look like. 1. The Trump Revolution must continue and reach the point where there really are jobs for Americans again. 2. An employer will need to break ranks with all of their peers and say "you know what, it actually isn't illegal to hire an unemployed person and if nothing else it will make me feel warm and fuzzy for a few days. 3. Then, having been given this chance, I'll actually have to suceed this time, it's been eight eyars since I've been allowed to try. -- jeez, I was working 10 hour days at that last job in a desperate bid to hold it and failed. =( 4. Then I, by this time might be 45 or 50 years old must attract a GF who is still in child-bearing years and successfully sire offspring... (my health has already declined a fair bit so that's actually in question...) I still want these things to happen but the reality is that there is every chance that we are on the eve of a radical discontinuity in the history of evolution. I mean I've been following if not actually studying AI since the '90s yet since the things that have since become the central focus weren't my main interest at the time, I don't have any cance of getting any work in AI because only people with specific training in this week's buzzwords (and who are bioligically young...) have any chance of landing work in AI these days even though it is an allegedly booming field. =\ Once again the top qualification of people who actually land work in those fields is a Hyderabad birth cirtificate. While I do not share the desire for any kind of "virtual existance" that the uploaders advocate, I do see the idea of putting a few parsecs between me and the nearest person who would claim special privilages (what they would call entitlements) based on any demographic factor as a powerful motive. Ofcourse they would call me a white separatist for saying even that...?? Yeah? So? What's your point? You wanted the world -> here it is, it's yours only I won't be around to be your scapegoat. Now I don't know what you actually want, nor do I know what or even if there is anything I can say to trigger that desire. But, for the love of God, you need to want it! You need to want it bad enough to actually do something about it. As southpark put it, you've gotta get Cereal, Super Cereal even... I really can't take anything away from people who have gotten non-trivial (non-mentifex) pieces of code up and running. Especially beacause I haven't even been able to get a development environment hooked up on my t-rex. But if you are complainin about the limits of what you can do as a hobbiest, then it's time to go pro. The first thing you need to do is come on this list and ask for help. There are plenty of under-educated lazy crackpots who would love to ignore or belittle your project. -- hmm, that didn't come out quite right... ... moving on ... An important part of getting cereal is proving to potential financers and ivestors that you are cereal about the project. You need to build a team that covers all the areas of technical, scientific, manegerial, financial, marketing, and public relations needs of the organization you need to build to get your project done. It's like the Blues Brothers but instead of getting the band back together, you are putting it together from scratch, which is considerably harder... One of the wilder facts about venture finance is that it's easier to raise a billion than it is to raise a million. The reason is simple, asking for the amount of money that the job actually requires shows that you cerially mean to get it done and aren't just dabbling or being wishy-washy. Anyway, either this post is too long or I've run out of things to ramble about or I'm just getting too silly.... time to press send. -- Clowns feed off of funny money; Funny money comes from the FED so NO FED -> NO CLOWNS!!!
