The business model of TV and the Internet, for many years, has been to serve our needs/desires and to embed persuasive messages (ads) in their services. I expect AGI to serve us and to persuade us (to answer your question, its messages will serve and persuade us). Because it will be intelligent, its services will be great and its persuasion will be subtle. Even without AGI, persuasion has gotten pretty subtle. As Matt points out, its services will include lots of physical actions, like manufacturing stuff and driving vehicles. As has been pointed out, GPT-3 is brittle. AGI language skills should be grounded in sensory/motor experience. I'm with Ben that we'll be better off if AGI is based on a modified business/political model. I advocate much more openness: https://www.ssec.wisc.edu/~billh/g/human_freedom.html Bill ------------------------------------------ Artificial General Intelligence List: AGI Permalink: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/Ta8cf1690f2bebe0e-M4266f1ea94fd8ab9cdaa0883 Delivery options: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/subscription
