Yes, small algorithms are better than bigger ones, same for ideas a brain generates. AIXI in this sense is the desire to find the small. You can see small and take it, small indicates a good one(s)! And yes all metrics are murder except Lossless Compression, the only thing that shows Patterns those juicy pattern things (that are reusable) are being found. Of course when we say oh you need to [be healthy or like humans] or be good at making discoveries, this falls under LC pattern finding/ creating. Remember our goal is to make ourselves stay alive / be a pattern, hence members that love blood taste are not so great to have around.
I explain in my Guide that simple is better, and Life is just what is patterns and we use patterns to achieve it, even our world becomes a pattern place so we can know what when where to do things easierly.
