*Google DeepMind hasn't funded the Hutter Prize because it*'s looking for short-term wins, it's looking for long-term wins. This is an interesting way of looking at how the fund will work: the winners are going to have the most significant impact for the next 10 years, and DeepMind doesn't really care about those prizes. In fact, you can argue that even if you're not one of the winners, DeepMind is a bit more invested in you being able to carry out this particular research - it's investing in a long-term process, not just a short-term prize.
This is the way DeepMind has always been, at least in the history ------------------------------------------ Artificial General Intelligence List: AGI Permalink: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/T31c4c6495649906f-Mdd0b574475c6747bb7001749 Delivery options: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/subscription
