Seems FB also employs hordes of regional translators under strict conditions of
confidentiality. Who would've thought that IT competent graduates would one day
be earning the same as a Soviet block scientist did during the cold war, and no
housing benefits either? Society's definitely regressing fast.

I was working on an algorithm for knowledge obsolescence once. I think it could
be quite relevant still. In order to place an ROI on a system of decision
making, the calculated value of obsolescence has to be discounted against the
net value of any body of knowledge (database, expert system, AI repository, or
whatever folder of "knowledge").

How so? As you aptly pointed out, the money will end up going to the knowledge
with the highest, economic value.

Interesting that people are working to automate their own jobs out of
existence. Of course, as a data scientist, I have been doing that for my whole
career.

There's nothing wrong with that. Data labelers in sub Saharan Africa make $8
per day. As the data they provide trains the AI algorithms that will replace
them, they will get increasingly difficult problems to solve and their pay will
go up.

Facebook employs 15,000 moderators/censors, which is 25% of their work force.
