I'd like to see a movie about a planet in a distant galaxy where the most advanced AI work is done by corporations in the advertising business. These corporations would have huge AI systems that connect to every inhabitant of the planet, perhaps via some sort of device that they carry. The AI systems would learn all about the inhabitants and the social relationships among them, developing a predictive model of them that they can use to persuade the inhabitants and create peer pressure for them to all fall in line with whatever thoughts are specified by the clients of the advertising corporations.
Advertising clients would certainly want to sell things and persuade inhabitants of political ideas. But once they realized that they had absolute control over the inhabitants they might decide that the planet would be a lot nicer with a lot fewer inhabitants. Or whatever.
