You’re being biased. A rock can’t report if it experiences qualia a human can. A human for example can experience blue light into their eyes wired into the brain have a feeling and report it. Blue light hits the surface of the rock some penetrates there is a physically distributed effect. Perhaps there is weak memory but stronger with blue laser. A newer 10,000 year old rock verses one that has been traveling through space for billions of years in various orbits, radiations, temperatures and pressures has had more experiences. Sounds silly but you’re assuming the experience of and the reporting of qualia is solely based on something that occurs in a biological construct as a boolean. We are conscious of the rock, the rock is in some ways conscious of us. That’s not anthropomorphizing. We experience and communicate our qualia via compression, symbolization and transmission via neural electrochemical pathways constructed from DNA code. Some people experience more qualia for example if you’re tetrachromatic but the average person couldn't decode those color names. Did you see where mushrooms are wired to produce music? What happens when the mushroom goes though various experiences. You could wire a rock. Some say consciousness is just physical effects and others say everything is consciousness but our mind can focus and read it better than other well known entities. Either way it's based on communication especially when operating within spacetime. ------------------------------------------ Artificial General Intelligence List: AGI Permalink: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/T906c878e4ba411be-M76e82f468a3cb0259b8af4ea Delivery options: https://agi.topicbox.com/groups/agi/subscription
