I would personally continue to decide and act, in the absence of pain
qualia ...
However, a young child or a dog -- or maybe a typical person, I'm not sure
--- perhaps would not do so, and in the absence of pain would die due to
stupidly endangering themselves..
Humans have the capability to liberate themselves, to a partial but
important extent, from their evolved goals and motivations.
