Put it this way, if I had funds to allocate, I would seriously look into
throwing a few million your way, solely and precisely because reverse
engineering the brain is necessary for uploading, and there's a chance your
ideas might make a significant contribution there.

As it is, pardon me if this was mentioned before, but have you checked out
the Blue Brain project? They claim to have reverse engineered neurons well
enough to have been able to build digital models that reproduce the
behavior of the originals.

Yes. Our experience with software emulation of 8-bit game consoles suffices
by itself to make that clear.

If so, I don't think anyone on this list is in a position to do anything
about that at the moment. But I'm starting to retread an argument I made
last time we had this conversation, so I'll rest my case on that one.

I think that's a good idea: if you find yourself repeating the same
argument, post your best version of it, then in the future you can provide
links to that version.
