There is a "mindset" out there that I just don't grok. Perhaps someone here
can explain it to me.

A while back Doubleclick.com was sued by the FTC over privacy concerns
regarding its prospective merging of other company's databases. As I
understand their intent, they would have used that information to better
select the ads they display, as displaying ads is their business.
Doubleclick then did some quick mia culpas and backed down from doing this.

I don't know about you, but **I** would like as much AI or other
intelligence as possible going into the selection of ads that appear on my
screen, in the hope that not ALL of my time glancing at them would be
wasted.

... and, here I am, preparing a patent on a technology with the capacity of
going WAY beyond anything that Doubleclick could have done. What awaits me
when this sees the light of day?

Further, Homeland Security is already going WAY beyond anything that
Doubleclick might have done, and THEY routinely throw people into nasty
dungeons and torture them, with little "proof" and no expectation of
subsequent trial. All Doubleclick was "threatening" was to not waste my
time showing me ads for stuff I am not interested in buying.

Has the dream of an Intelligent Internet already been aborted, before it
even had a chance to be born?

Does someone here have a clear perspective on this?

Thanks.

Steve
