Lol, did I detect a bit of trolling there, Tim! Of course they will do a bit better than that, on the other hand they cannot afford ethics that will blow a multi-billion dollar investment. To the degree Demis is Greek, I assure you he is a liar :) Obviously they could not have produced 400 mil of work in a couple of years. My best guess is that Google assessed them as the best neuroteam and will fund them in the race in parallel with their other AGI teams. Even I would like to have at least two teams independently working on the same roadmap, possibly a male team and a female team! Of course "the rest of us" are not in a position to join forces. I am not entirely sure what I disapprove of in OpenCog, certainly something between the difficulty of getting it to run and those "advanced" C++/whatever codes that make it difficult to modify meaningfully. On the other hand, anything that is open sourced comes already with an implied invitation, perhaps some unknown unknowns have already forked it and surely forked it will be. So let's fork off!
