Speaking of religion, AGI, consciousness, mathematics, yada yada yada has anyone read Stan Tenen’s book:
"The Alphabet That Changed the World: How Genesis Preserves a Science of Consciousness in Geometry and Gesture" And is there an equivalent for Islam? I’ve just discovered Tenen’s book, reading some of it here: http://tinyurl.com/jscs3pa it is soooo interesting! My point here is that everyone besides ISIS says that ISIS is misreading the Koran, and yes, there are MANY things that ISIS does that run counter to the Koran. However, the basic thesis of running out and blowing yourself and others up in the only holy war now taking place **IS** supported by the Koran - better than other less-violent interpretations. I kinda agree with this, actually, based on my limited but nontrivial knowledge of the Quran... However, I don't think it matters much. What matters is not what is the most straightforward interpretation of the Quran from a modern Western rationalist, literalist perspective. What matters are the cultural traditions of which the Quran is a part.
