Yes this is very true.  It's easy to make predictions knowing that
it's unlikely that you'll have to live with the consequences.  I could
make all kinds of wacky predictions for 2050.  Even if I'm still alive
by then chances are that I'll be so old that I'll on longer care
whether my predictions made over 40 years earlier turned out to be
accurate or not.

Will robots ever get married?  Perhaps they will, although by the time
strong AI arrives the concept of marriage will probably have changed
significantly and encompass practices which are quite alien today,
such as the merging of multiple minds into a collective entity through
the use of direct interfaces with the brain.
