Nothing about a [computer] geek necessarily implies gender at all. To be fair, ask this same question but replace women with any other 'minority' and see if it's still a problem. Also, ask the question about how many of these stereotypical "geeks" are successfully employed in the real world these days. Perhaps the reason there are so few computer geeks is because those who are responsible for maintaining corporate computer systems have had to mature into roles less obviously geek.
