Think Geek. Bet you're not picturing a woman.

For all the progress women have made in traditionally male-dominated fields, they remain a small and shrinking minority in computer sciences, a discipline that has come to dominate so much of modern life.

Our world increasingly is controlled by computers - in our homes, cars, on our person. But women earn less than 30 percent of bachelor's degrees in computer science, down from a peak of 38 percent in 1985. They are even more underrepresented in academia - 9 percent of full professors of computer science are women.
