Without needing to get into full natural language processing, it's not impossible for a bot to be made to accept that exact sentence as input and compute what it means.

Chinese Room philosophical arguments aside, I'm not sure that bots should be allowed to be people, but I do think that we might need something better than just "understand".


Maybe "able to comprehend the meaning of"?
