Could you mail the list the commands you're running and errors you're getting from the build process so that we can see what is going wrong?

I am currently unsure of a tool to configure X from the command-line, other than ``dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg''. Regarding running start.pl: yes, it requires to be run from within your X session.

We're going to try to remove the dependency on X, but first have tofix vidnull in Windows.
